the west capitol 2006 calendar is finally available for download!
(only five months late)

right click here and select "save target as" to simply download it as a straight word document.

if you're feeling more adventurous, download the word document here to print the double sided wall calendar. follow the instructions below to assemble it.

the first thing you may notice is that some of the pages are upside-down and most of the pages' pictures correspond to the wrong months. don't worry. it's weird like that because we're going to be printing on both sides of the page and then binding like a book, so the actual sheets of paper are confusing until you assemble them.

1. do you know how to do the automatic double-sided printing feature in word? that's probably the easiest way to do it. if you know how to do automatic double-sided printing, go ahead and do it and then skip to step 5.

2. if you don't know how to do automatic printing, don't worry! all you really need is a printer and a spare half-hour. start by just printing off page 1 by hitting ctrl+p and entering "1" in the field where it says "pages."

3. after page 1 prints off, take it out of the return tray on the printer and re-insert it into the paper tray so it's facing you.

4. now ctrl+p again and print off page 2 only. the page will come out and it should have page 1 on one side and page 2 upside-down on the other. if this isn't the case, figure out what you did wrong and try another piece of paper until you get the desired results.

go ahead and do this for pages 3 & 4, 5 & 6 and so on up to 13 & 14.

5. when you're finished, lay out all the pages on top of each other. page 1 is on the bottom and page 13 is on the top. you can see from this picture on the left that page 1 is the december calendar (on the left) and page 13 is the picture and calendar for june (on the right).
this is what the backs of the pages look like. notice page 2 on the left. it's the upside-down sheet that says "the west capitol 2006 calendar!"

6. with all the pages in the right order, put a staple in the middle of the sheets between where the pictures and days are. this is sort of difficult, since most staplers aren't long enough to go into the middle of the page. you'll probably have to fold part of the calendar a bit to get it to the middle.

after the staple is in, fold the calendar between the pictures and the days (where the staple is anyway). now you can flip through the calendar just like a vertical book!

7. punch a hole in the top portion of the calendar so you can easily display it in your home, office or trailer.
